Detained BNP leader Salahuddin moved to BSMMU’s ICU

Detained commerce affairs secretary of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and former lawmaker Salahuddin Ahmed has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University early Tuesday.

The BNP leader was moved from the coronary care unit to the ICU around 3:00am on Tuesday as his condition deteriorated, Shamsuddin Didar, a member of the BNP chairperson’s media wing, confirmed.

 

Salahuddin Ahmed was admitted to the CCU of BSMMU at about 11:00am on Monday after he complained of breathing difficulty.

Shamsuddin Didar said that the BNP leader had developed heart failure since 7:00pm on Monday and his blood pressure was fluctuating.

The former BNP lawmaker has been suffering from various ailments, including pneumonia.

On October 4, he was admitted to the CCU of BSMMU as per the recommendation of physicians, said Md Mahabubul Alam, jailer of Dhaka Central Jail.

Later, he was shifted to the prison annex of the hospital.

Detectives arrested Salahuddin Ahmed from Dhaka’s Jatrabari area on August 3. He was arrested in cases filed over the clash during a sit-in programme in Jatrabari.
